Predators

So I have finally sat down and managed to finish a piece or two after going through a patch without completing a decent image for a couple of pieces.

Here is probably my favourite alien/movie monster of all time. I know I shouldn't say but I used to watch both the first Predator and the Aliens film regular with my good friend Sean at his grandparents house as a young lad.

Since then I've always had a keen fascination with those creatures. I even like the not so great AvP films.

Also here is my 7th Art cast  video with me working on the piece.

Mad Max

So here is a piece I recently completed. I found this image on the web and was instantly drawn to it. I'm a big fan of the original Mad Max: Road Warrior film. I'm also slightly unsure how the newer version will live up to the original. I like Tom Hardy though so I'm hopefully there will be some good involved in that project.

Here his my entry for the Artcasters Facebook group monthly challenge. This month the topic was Animals, my little boy choose the the animals I drew. He seems to have a thing for Elephants at the moment.

Ironclad

I started this piece just over a week ago. Just to family commitments and being on a Social Engagement course for the coaching business I also run. Time to fit the piece in was a struggle.

I started the layout in blue polychromos pencil, for the main character it allowed me to capture a little detail, as the process was really loose. The character again became my main focus in starting the detail process.

I realised from here how difficult this actual piece would be to draw. The amount of detail nearly overwhelmed me at one point. Especially the chain mail.

I actually dreaded it and it took the best part of last weekend to finish that particular element.

It was a massively fun piece to draw, even though it had the hidden details, that gave me concern for worry and after almost completing the figure I had the challenge of the background, which alone took me about 3 hours of work. I'd say total time for the piece was around 12 hours.
